Zac Ryan to Make Long Awaited Return at Tour of the North

Townsville Cycle Club’s A Grade pocket rocket, Zac Ryan, will make his highly-anticipated return to the peloton for Townsville’s premier road event on 26-27 June.

Ryan decided to forgo all three rounds of the Townsville Cycle Club Championships earlier this year, much to the surprise of other A Grade riders.

None more surprised than local aspiring poet, Ben Lawes, who kick-started his limerick career in Ryan’s absence by calling out his vanishing act via entry-boss’ entry-remarks platform:

“There once was a guy called Zac.

He couldn’t get his bike to the track.

Says he’s been ill,

but when the pedals stay still,

who knows when he’ll be back?”

This prompted the response from Ryan ‘6 weeks.’

Earlier this week, the classy all-rounder came through on his statement and officially registered himself for the 2021 Tiny Mountain Brewery Tour of the North.

Ryan will be a rider to keep an eye on after his sub 10-hour finish of the Peaks Challenge Falls Creek in March this year.

If anyone wants to stalk his training, form and performance you can find the link to his Strava account here: https://www.strava.com/athletes/177474

Lawes got his wish, and now the whole peloton has been put on notice.

Registrations for this year’s Tour of the North close at 11:59pm Wednesday 16 June.
